History

In 1987, pastor Jing Batac, a Filipino pastor, went to Harvesters Baptist Church in Canada. The church decided to take him as a missionary serving under Harvesters Canada. The church also became his sending church and his only supporting church.

In 1990, pastor Doug Wood and John Vink came to the Philippines to visit pastor Jing and his church. John had compassion on the children he saw playing on the streets. They also saw a group of boys playing a game of hacky sack during school hours. Later in the evening, they saw a very young girl begging on the streets in downtown Biñan. When they got home, John asked pastor Doug if they could start an orphanage as a part of their church ministries. Pastor Doug was glad to do that.

Children who are homeless, abandoned, neglected, and rejected by their parents are common problems in the Philippines because of poverty and violence. Pastor Jing, who also had compassion on these children, dreamed about having an orphanage as a ministry since God had called him to start a church in Biñan. He believed that somehow the Lord will use him in this great ministry. He just trusted the Lord and continued to served Him faithfully. The Lord led him to meet pastor Doug. Both of them had the same dream, same plans, and the same prayers. They believed that it was God's plan and He brought them together to do His will.

In 2000, the Lord answered their prayers to build an orphanage. Bayanihan 2000 was built by faith and by the grace of God. Until now, this great ministry is being used by God mightily to reach out those children who are in need and to share them the Gospel of Jesus Christ. To God be the glory!
